You know those moments when you’re just so in awe of God’s creation that it almost doesn’t feel real? Like you’re standing in front of something so massive, so majestic, so breathtaking– maybe it’s the towering Glaciers in Alaska, the wild beauty of the desert out West, or the deep blues of the Pacific– and all you can do is stand there, jaw practically on the floor, whispering “God made this?”
It’s crazy to think that the same God who carved canyons, painted sunsets, and placed stars in the sky is also the One who sat down and said “Now lets make her.”
But here’s the part that really gets me, He created all of that in just six days. The ocean, the galaxies, the mountains, volcanoes, Mangos, the Northern Lights– six days. Yet when it came to you? He didn’t rush. He didn’t slap something together or throw you on the assembly line. No, sweet friend, He took nine months. He handcrafted you in your mama’s womb. Knit together every detail, every freckle, every strand of hair He named, every personality quirk, every dream, and every fingerprint. Six days for the world. Nine months for you. He took. His. Time.
And He said “I’m gonna make her in My image.” That’s not just poetic, that’s personal. And how freaking cool is that?!!
You weren’t an afterthought. You weren’t a bonus round because He got bored. You were part of the plan all along. His plan. His masterpiece. You are not “extra” or “too much” or “just one of many” or “not enough.” You are one of one. Unrepeatable. Uncopyable, and undeniably chosen. Sometimes we forget that. We look at the Grand Canyon and go “Wow,” but when we look at ourselves in the mirror we go “ugh.” We scroll and compare and criticize and shrink. We see wonder in everything else, but not in ourselves. They say there are 7 wonders of the world but girl, that’s false, because you are one of His wonders too. You’re not the exception to His intentionality. You’re not the one person He created by accident or made with less care. You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14) – which is just bible talk for, You’re a work of art. And if you ever doubt that, just remember the timeline. He built oceans in a day. But He built your heart, your voice, your laugh, your story– very slowly.
Here’s another thing, you weren’t created to be perfect. You were created to reflect Him. That means you’re allowed to have layers. You’re allowed to feel deeply, you’re allowed to grow and mess up and start over again. You’re allowed to cry and laugh in the same afternoon, to have dreams that change, and to not have it all together. Because guess what? You’re not the Creator, you’re the creation. You’re not the One who holds it all– you’re the one being held. And you being made in His image doesn’t mean you have to be flawless. It means you carry His light. It means when you smile at someone on a hard day, when you show kindness when it’s inconvenient, when you choose joy over cynicism, when you say yes to God even when it’s scary– you are showing the world a glimpse of Him. You don’t have to strive to be enough. You just get to be His.
The next time you feel small I want you to remember this: God made the entire universe in less than a week. He spent almost a year forming you. He didn’t rush. He wasn’t careless. He wasn’t distracted. He delighted in making you. That alone should be enough to shake off some insecurity, to quiet the comparison, and to stand a little taller– not in pride, but in peace. You are here on purpose and for a purpose. And the world needs what only you carry.
So next time you’re standing at the edge of a cliff, looking at a jaw dropping view, or even just sipping coffee and staring out your window at a beautiful sunrise, I hope you take a second to think: “If this is what He made in six days.. Imagine what kind of beauty He saw when He made me.” Girl, you are not just in the world, you’re a part of what makes it beautiful.
Scripture to sip on:
“I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” – Psalm 139:14 (NIV)
